Located in the heart of the south Vendee there are plenty of attractions close by worth exploring.


William Christie

William Lincoln Christie is an American-born French conductor and harpsichordist. He is a specialist in baroque repertoire and is the founder of the ensemble Les Arts Florissants. His beautiful gardens are open at certain times of the year and are only 5 mins drive away in the village of Thire.


Puy du Fou

Located 45 mins from La Chapelle Themer is the medieval theme park of Puy du Fou. Le Puy du Fou is a historical theme park in Les Epesses in the heart of the Vendée region of Western France. The park brings in some 1.5 million visitors every year, making it the fourth most popular attraction in France after Disneyland Paris

La Rochelle/Ile de Ré

La Rochelle is a city in western France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital of the Charente-Maritime department and is 45 mins drive away. Across the bridge from La Rochelle is the beautiful island of Île de Ré on the northern side of the Pertuis d'Antioche strait.


Local Vineyards

Why not visit some of our local vineyards such as Chateau du Rosnay and J Mourat where you will be able to sample and purchase a variety of locally produced wines.

Vendee Beaches

Explore the famous beaches of the Vendee which are less than one hours drive from the Gite.



Located within an easy drive of the Gite are some superb restaurants specializing in traditional french cuisine with seafood a speciality in many.



There are three great golf courses all within one hours drive of the Gite. We are happy to assist in organising a golf package for you on request.

Regular weekly markets take place in the local towns all within a short drive of the Gite.
